Acute anticonvulsant effects of capric acid in seizure tests in mice.

Capric acid (CA10) is a 10-carbon medium-chain fatty acid abundant in the medium-chain triglyceride ketogenic diet (MCT KD). The aim of this study was to research acute anticonvulsant effects of CA10 across several seizure tests in mice. CA10 was also co administered with another abundant medium-chain fatty acid, caprylic acid (CA8) and efficacy assessed. Results showed that CA10 exhibited acute anticonvulsant effects with an enhanced anticonvulsant effect when CA10 was co-administered with CA8.
