This study investigates the benefits of the oral supplement with probiotic VSL3 as immunomodulating agent in the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS). The results showed an anti-inflammatory immune response and reduced mean fluorescence intensity of HLA-DR on the surface of dendritic cells with no detection of toxic effects. Side effects usually limit the use of other disease-modifying therapies for MS, and this is not the case with VSL3.
